A Hot Cereal Besides Oatmeal

Oatmeal is OK, but I like to change it up a little sometimes.

Corn meal does the trick! I can cook it up fast just for one, and I can eat it with milk and syrup, or with salt, pepper, and butter.

Here's how I do it:
     •I mix up 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup corn meal, and about 1/3 tsp of salt (to taste).
     •Then, I bring 1 cup of water to boiling in a small pot, and slowly pour in cornmeal, water and salt mixture, stirring constantly.
     •Once everything's poured in, I just stir every few seconds, while things thicken a bit. I don't like lumps, so I press down on any I see at this point.
     •Next, I turn the heat down to low, put a lid over it, and wait 5 minutes.
     •When I take the lid off, I push down any more lumps there might be, pour everything into a cereal bowl, add my milk and sugar (or whatever) and enjoy!
